There are monsters under my bed.
Memories that I'd rather forget.
Daydreaming about what could have been
Lasts only so long.
Moonlight peeks through my window,
It's the only thing that sees through my lies.
The sun only stays to see
My so-called better side.
My room is all but dead with silence,
I slam my pillow to my ears to
Muffle the whispering secrets that
Emanate from all that is around me.
My cell phone screams all the
Conversations I should have had.
Unwritten love letters stream from
My pencil, snapped in half.
My silent facade dissipates from within,
While words unspoken ring in my ears.
Huddled broken on the wooden floor,
Now wet with once unshed tears.
My shallow breath knocks the dust
From long forgotten memories,
This previously cold heart is healed;
The biggest monster was... me. |
